Those who have spent
time sailing Annapolis know the Chesapeake's fickle
personality, especially in the spring after big rains. It's
all about current and light air, and the first day of the 2008
Sperry Top-Sider Annapolis NOOD was no exception. The outbound
current prevented most sailors from being over early, except
in the big fleets, but the current also gave skippers fits
when it came to tactics and weather mark roundings.
Eleven S2 7.9's
competed in the Annapolis NOOD's. They had their own division.
Rebel consistently picked the right way to go and had great
downwind speed...Way to go!
Congratulations to
John Spierling and the crew of Rebel (Sarnia, ON) and Doug
Frye and the crew of Robyn (Grand Haven, MI) scoring a 1st and
2nd in the S2 7.9 class.
