2009 has been a very successful so
far!
Much of our success here at Doyle Boston
Sails is due to our great customers and the success that you
all have on the water! 2009 has been a great success and it is
only half way finished. We continue to work very hard to
ensure that your success keeps going for the rest of the
season.
Here is what I hope is just a partial
list of results that DBS has been a part of.
St. Pete NOOD.
Congrats to Dave Flechsig and his crew on
board Rooster Tail for besting Spike and the Frequent Flyer
crew in the S2 7.9 fleet. With his win Dave and crew are now
heading to the Caribbean as they won the overall boat of the
week award! Dave had just taken delivery of a new D4 mainsail
and Genoa for the event.
Ultimate 20. Jim Pearson with a string of
firsts dominated this small but tough class at this years NOOD
regatta. Jim had Brad on board to help get himself and AJ up
to speed for the rest of the season.
Viper 640. This is an up and coming fleet
and St. Pete was our first attempt in the class. Dan Cheresh
and Tac borrowed a boat for the event. We built our first set
of Viper sails and had a decent showing of 6th.
Ultimate 20 Midwinter’s.
The annual trip to Lake Norman was an
eventful one. We did not get 7 miles from Sarnia before we had
blown 2 tires on Honour! So that ended the trip for the boat.
A few frantic phone calls to the fleet down there secured us
another ride. Thanks to Allison Young lending Tac and crew her
boat. The regatta continued to be a challenge as we only got 1
race in over two days. Don Corey won that race, Bob McGrath
was second and Brad sailing on another borrowed boat was 3rd.
Charleston Race Week.
PHRF D was won by Tom Freeman and his
crew onboard the Tripp 26 Slapshot. Tom is a long time
customer and we just delivered a new #1 Genoa for Tom in time
for this event.
In the Viper 640 fleet Brad chartered a
boat for this event and we finished a new set of sails for
this event. This was our second set of sails, some small
changes from the sails that we did for St. Pete. Brad and crew
ended the regatta in 3rd place and turning a lot of
heads in process. Tac was down there as well in our RIB
helping to coach the fleet and also looking at sail shapes and
set ups from the other top teams. On Saturday night Tac was
part of a fleet wide debrief that the class hosts at each
event. It is a great way to help the fleet even out from top
to bottom.
Brad is very excited to announce that he
and Lee Shuckerow have purchased a Viper and are now awaiting
the arrival of the new boat. Hull #125 will be hitting the
regatta circuit starting at CORK! Look for many more great
results and coverage from this great fleet.
Annapolis NOOD.
S2 7.9 Class was won by Doug Frye and the
crew of Robyn. Dr. Itch Paul LaTour was second.
