Established in the 1920’s by Howard and Lolly Boston in
Mt. Clemens, Boston Sails specialized in small one-design
and ice-boat sails. Because of the success in the one-design
fleets of the 30’s and 40’s, Boston Sails was
chosen to build sails for larger cruising and racing sailboats.
The Sarnia location was established in 1968
in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada by Spike Boston. Doyle Boston Sailmakers
is proud if its sailmaking heritage. Doyle Boston is a third-generation
sailmaker.
In the 1960’s and 1970,’s Boston
Sails built sails for leading one-design, cruising and iceboat
sailors throughout the world.
In the 1980’s, Boston Sails designed and
serviced sails for leading one-design, MORC, and cruising
sailors throughout the Great Lakes.
In 1987 Boston Sails started its affiliation with Doyle Sails
and became Doyle Boston Sails.
In the 1990’s, Tac and Brad Boston, joined
Doyle Boston as sailmaking professionals and racecourse winners.
Since the 1990’s, Spike, Tac and Brad Boston have won numerous
national titles in several classes including: S2 7.9, MORC,
Soling, J24, and Ultimate 20.
In 1996 and 2000, Brad represented Canada in
the Soling class at the Olympic Games.
Today, the Doyle Boston team is active
in racing in the S2 7.9 Class, Ultimate 20, Mumm30, J120, J
22, MORC and numerous
small boat and big boat PHRF programs in North America.
